Definitions

ParticipationMeaning
UserUses the software created by the project, and contributes significantly to mailing lists or other discussion forums intended for other users.
DeveloperContributes to the development of the project, by writing documentation or source code, and participates in any developer forums.
Release EngineerCoordinates contributions from other developers and performs releases for the project.
Project OwnerPrimary author of the software, provides releases, patch acceptance, support, and web hosting. Usually indicates a one-man project, or an open source project without a team structure.
